Patchouli symbolizes this rich exchange of cultures, recalling a time when precious goods arrived from the East on the shores of Italy, imbued with its mysterious heady scent. The woody oriental fragrance opens with fruity, balsamic top notes of Indian davana oil, which mingles with zesty Tarocco Sicilian blood orange, and is offset by the dry earthy facets of Indian papyrus essence. Aromatic clary sage powers the heart of the fragrance, its fruity floral quality giving way to sweet musky undertones and hints of tobacco. The clary sage is complemented by peppery coriander seeds and the heady opulence of Bulgarian rose. Then comes the signature of the fragrance – rich, woody patchouli with its hints of spice and subtle smokiness coalesces with Spanish cistus essence, which brings a warm, dry, resinous quality to the perfume. The base is enriched by Venezuelan tonka beans and notes of vanilla and caramel that leave a lingering sweetness on the skin.
